As a conservative, you’ve more than likely heard all about the decreasing worth of a college education these days. But now, things are so bad even liberals like Bill Maher are advising against these educational institutions.
If you know much about Maher, you understand that he’s about as liberal as they come. However, unlike many of his kind, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a die-hard leftist. Instead, he actually uses his brain for the most part and sees reality for what it is, albeit sometimes skewed against the Republicans.
He’s also not afraid to ruffle a few of his party members’ feathers.
And that’s likely what he did on Friday when he all but called elite universities the breeding grounds for modern stupidity.
These thoughts and others were aired on that day’s episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher.” They were a direct response to Maher’s learning that many college students of today are actually siding with Hamas on the whole Israel v Gaza conflict going on overseas.
Maher said, “As an Ivy League graduate who knows the value of a liberal education, I have one piece of advice for the youth in America: Don’t go to college. And if you absolutely have to go, don’t go to an elite college because, as recent events have shown, it just makes you stupid.”
He went on to note that there is pretty much no good to come out of all this war between Israel and her enemies.
But if there is one thing, Maher maintains that it is “opening America’s eyes to how higher education has become indoctrination into a stew of bad ideas, among them the simplistic notion that the world is a binary place where everyone is either oppressor or oppressed.”
And he’s right. I mean, we on the right have known this for years. And college admission stats only confirm it.
But now, it seems even those on the liberal side are seeing the truth. Could this be the end of higher education as we know it?
